*Presentation & Discussion:
The Red Book

Facilitator: Heather Keens
Presenters: Yolanda Waldman, Lucy Davey,
Erla Ronan, Chardi Christian

These 4 sessions are short presentations on different aspects of The Red Book, followed by discussion.

Session 1 – Saturday 19th May
Yolanda Waldman, will set the stage for the development of Jung’s Red Book, taking us into the world of the early 20th century in Switzerland and Germany, to connect us to the social, cultural and political environment that surrounded Jung at that time.

Session 2 – Saturday 2nd June
Lucy Davey will present selected passages from The Red Book to follow particular ideas and elements which concerned Jung.   Among these are his references to the Spirit of the Time and the Spirit of the Depths, and to aspects of struggle within the experience of the individual.

Session 3 – Saturday 16th June
Erla Ronan and Chardi Christian will acquaint us with the figure of Philemon in an experiential session using story and art.   Jung described Philemon as a figure arising from the unconscious, presenting him with many illuminating ideas, and becoming his guiding spirit at this time.

Session 4 – Saturday 30th June
Chardi Christian (assisted by Heather Keens) will continue to explore the theme of Philemon, whom Jung also described as a magician.   We will consider where magic fits in our lives.   Participants will be able to develop their own mandala as part of this process, much as Jung began to develop his mandalas at the end of the Red Book.

*It is not necessary to have your own copy of The Red Book.   Relevant pages will be available for reading and discussion

*It is suggested that participants bring along a journal

*Any art materials will be supplied ( you may of course bring your own)

*Tea and coffee will be provided
